Kelsey – location, location, location

Hey y’all!

Its been a little while since I posted, so I wanted to give everyone a quick update. The weather is rapidly getting colder, which reminds me of my favorite coming season: fall. The leaves change, the air is less humid, and my favorite Davidson break is coming up.

Davidson is great in that they give their students a few days off from school in the middle of fall semester to go home, take a short trip, or simply de-stress (as much as that is possible, anyway….). While it may not be fair to compare Fall Break (starting Friday) to Thanksgiving or Winter Break, it’s definitely unique in that not all colleges offer it. Every year, I’ve enjoyed my four-day sabbatical from homework and classes to visit friends at other schools, or simply go home to see my family.

Fall Break’s approaching reminds me of the perks of going to school in Davidson, NC. While I’m lucky to be in driving distance of home, there’s plenty of other places even closer. For example, some of my friends are taking the weekend to head to Asheville, NC, a gorgeous city in the Carolina mountains that boasts a vibrant cultural, shopping, and restaurant atmosphere. There are even hikes available not too far from the city!

Other groups of friends are staying in Davidson–another perk of a short Fall Break. Unlike Winter Break, dorms and apartments stay open through the break, so students can stay for the Saturday football game, or enjoy a less-crowded campus. Even then, Charlotte and its many shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues are only a 20 minute drive away–perfect for an off-campus afternoon!

While I’ll be heading back to Virginia on Friday, I’m looking forward to hearing of all my friends’ adventures–in and out of North Carolina.
