Hey y’all,

I’m Kelsey Lilley, a senior Political Science major here at Davidson. I have an unhealthy addiction to breaking news updates, and I love the yogurt and cinnamon covered pretzels from Davis Café.

I am originally from Williamsburg, Virginia, a small city known for its tourist attractions like Bush Gardens Amusement Park and “Colonial Williamsburg.” I went to Jamestown High School, a medium-sized public school just miles from the first American colony, Jamestown Settlement (cool, huh?).

At Davidson, I have been involved in political organizations, even getting a chance to volunteer for the 2008 Presidential campaign as a freshman. Since then, I have participated in various publications on campus, including the Davidsonian newspaper, where I served as a copy editor and then a news editor my freshman and sophomore years, and the Davidson Reader, an academic magazine for which I served as Design Director. I have also been deeply involved in my Eating House, and have held various positions over the years. In my junior year, I spent the fall semester abroad in Geneva, Switzerland, having the time of my life. I travelled throughout Western Europe, and my favorite trip by far was to the highest train station in Europe, nestled high up in the Swiss Alps!

I spent the summer in Washington, D.C., interning at a defense-oriented think-tank, called the Africa Center for Strategic Studies. Additionally, I participated in the Davidson in Washington program, which combined a seminar class with eye-opening speakers and field trips. After getting my feet wet in the D.C. world, I’m set on going back after graduation!

Now that I’m back at Davidson, I am diving into my last year, juggling career planning and seminar homework. I will be spending a great deal of time here at the Admissions Office, working with prospective students. Additionally, I am running a Service Committee for my Eating House, and will be making preparations for our annual December service event. In my spare time, I’ll be anxiously awaiting Winter, so I can plan a snowboarding trips to the mountains! I am passionate about international affairs, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, and look forward to finding a post-Davidson place where I can further explore those interests!

That’s all for now! Enjoy the blog,

Kelsey
