The campus FTP service is up and running. If you share files that are larger than 10 MBytes, the FTP server will make sharing much easier than before. Unlike e-mail, you won't have a small quota that can easily get filled with just a few large files. And you can share files with anyone that you work with even if they don't have a Davidson account. The FTP server has a separate account and password that you can share with anyone. Any staff and faculty can get an account. Students can get an account through a faculty sponsor for academic use. The first draft of the Administrative Data Security Policy is being circulated. This policy will govern the handling, dissemination, and protection of Davidson College’s administrative data. Administrative data and applications are valuable assets over which the College has an obligation to manage, secure and protect. All administrative data that reside on computers both within ITS and around campus, data as paper hard copy, and data on electronic media to include but not limited to diskette, CD-ROM, USB Removable Media (Thumb Drive, Flash Drive, Memory Stick), and DVD will be governed by this policy. This policy does not include detailed procedures for each office but provides guidelines for each department/division to follow.

ITS, Auxiliary Services, and Physical plant are working together to improve network and phone connectivity for Patterson Court. With the renovation of Patterson Court 9 to the new Outpost we are taking this opportunity to bring the Davidson College Network Fiber Backbone and Digital Phone system to the Outpost. The new fiber route is just the start of what we plan to be an increase in network and phone performance for all of Patterson Court in the future.
