Are you planning to develop surveys this Fall? Surveyor, the campus survey tool will be replaced on August 1, 2007 by a new survey tool called Checkbox. Using Checkbox, users can create dynamic surveys and forms for the web and develop data reports instantly.
Why are we moving away from Surveyor? In short, we have to. The Surveyor application is no longer supported by its company, Object Planet. At the same time, Surveyor users are requesting a more sophisticated program that can handle advanced features such as randomization, embedded images, branching, and piping. Over the 2006-2007 academic year, ITS formed a survey software focus group made up of frequent survey users. After careful evaluation of a number of online survey programs, the group recommended Ultimate Survey, now known as "Checkbox". The application is rated as the most suitable online survey program for its built-in functionality and user-friendly interface.
Checkbox is currently installed on an ITS server and will be tested and tweaked over the summer by key users who support survey development on campus. Existing surveys will remain accessible on Surveyor until December, 2008 to give survey owners ample time to recreate surveys in Checkbox.
