Listen to people talk about getting things done... new clients, resources, donors, jobs... you constantly hear "it is who you know". I would like to disagree with this old adage. It has never been true. The fact that you know someone does not give you any access to them, their thoughts or their resources. Bright Spot in Hiring
According to a story in the New York Times this morning ("Bright Spot in Downturn: New Hiring Is Robust" Steven Greenhouse), there is a bright spot in hiring activity. In the Charlotte area we are looking at an umemployment rate of 10.5% and a national rate of 8.5% - a twenty five year high. The Times suggest that we have lost three million jobs since November.
