According to a story in the New York Times this morning ("Bright Spot in Downturn: New Hiring Is Robust" Steven Greenhouse), there is a bright spot in hiring activity. In the Charlotte area we are looking at an umemployment rate of 10.5% and a national rate of 8.5% - a twenty five year high. The Times suggest that we have lost three million jobs since November.
