A Beach Trip to Remember

President-Elect Ross and classmates will celebrate their 35th Davidson Reunion on campus April 28-29 during Reunion Weekend. However, Ross has long-standing plans to gather with some of those classmates immediately prior to the weekend at the beach. Oft-told college tales…. New high profile job… Merciless ribbing…. Would you want to be in his flip-flops?!

The Day the Judge Lost His Robe

A law enforcer for seventeen years, Judge Ross has at least twice been the victim of crime. His lake house was once burglarized, but the most notorious incident occurred when his robe was robbed! One day in Montgomery County, Ross returned to the courthouse after lunch to find his custom-made judicial robe missing from its hanger. Two other robes hanging near his were not disturbed. “At first I thought someone was playing a prank on me,” Ross said. But it was gone for good, and Ross had to resume the afternoon session in substitute threads. It turned out that his robe was indeed stolen, by the angry spouse of a man he had convicted. It was rumored that she burned the garment in a satanic ritual. “It could have been worse,” Ross said philosophically. “Someone could have put a hole through it while I was wearing it!”

The Press Hails The New Chief!

North Carolina newspapers have been supportive of Tom Ross's decision to accept the Davidson presidency, and complimentary of the good work he has done at the Reynolds Foundation and in the courts system. The Charlotte Observer wrote, "So it was an inspired choice Thursday when Davidson College trustees announced they had elected Thomas W. Ross Sr., class of 1972, as the school's 17th president... Service is the singular characteristic that marks Judge Ross' public life."

Here are links to the editorials that were printed recently about his appointment in The Winston Salem Journal and The Charlotte Observer.
