NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS

Application guidelines for the next round of Grants for Arts Projects are now available on the National Endowment for the Arts' website. Organizations may apply under the following categories:

Access to Artistic Excellence
To encourage and support artistic excellence, preserve our cultural heritage, and provide access to the arts for all Americans. An organization may request a grant amount from $5,000 to $150,000.
DEADLINES: March 12 and August 13, 2009

Challenge America: Reaching Every Community Fast-Track Review Grants
To support projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations. Grants are for $10,000.
DEADLINE: May 28, 2009

Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth
To advance arts education for children and youth in school-based or community-based settings. An organization may request a grant amount from $5,000 to $150,000.
DEADLINE: June 11, 2009

To view the guidelines, go to www.arts.gov/grants/apply, select the field or discipline most relevant to your project, and Grants for Arts Projects will be the first funding opportunity listed.

Electronic application through Grants.gov is MANDATORY.

YADDO ARTISTS' COMMUNITY: Artist Residencies

DEADLINE: August 1, January 1

Yaddo, the artists’ community established in 1900 by Spencer and Katrina Trask, has a simple mission: to offer creative artists uninterrupted time to work, good working conditions, and a supportive environment. Yaddo encourages artists from all nations and of all backgrounds to apply for admission.

NEH: America's Historical and Cultural Organizations--Implementation Grants

DEADLINE: August 27, 2008 (for projects beginning April 2009)

Implementation grants offered through America's Historical and Cultural Organizations program at the National Endowment for the Humanities allow institutions to provide the public with opportunities to explore the humanities through activities such as exhibitions, reading and film discussion series, catalogs, lectures, symposia and websites.

NEA: Access to Artistic Excellence

DEADLINE: August 11, 2008 (June 1, 2009 earliest beginning date for Arts Endowment period of support)

The Access to Artistic Excellence grant program through the National Endowment for the Arts encourages and supports artistic creativity, preserves our diverse cultural heritage and makes the arts more widely available in communities throughout the country. While projects in this category may focus on just one of these areas, the Arts Endowment recognizes that many of the most effective projects encompass both artistic excellence and enhanced access. The Arts Endowment is particularly interested in projects that extend the arts to underserved populations -- those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics or disability.

NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS: Challenge America Fast-Track Review Grants

DEADLINE: June 2, 2008

The NEA Challenge America Fast-Track Review program offers $10,000 grants to small and mid-sized organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations -- those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics or disability.

HAMBIDGE CENTER FOR CREATIVE ARTS & SCIENCES: Residency Program

DEADLINE: April 15, 2008

The Hambidge Residency Program provides setting, solitude and time for creative individuals working in a wide variety of creative disciplines. Fellowships are offered for two to eight week residencies, year round, except for the month of January.

HAGLEY MUSEUM AND LIBRARY: Grants-in-Aid and du Pont Fellowships

DEADLINES: March 31, 2008, June 30 and October 31

Grants-in-aid:
Short-term grants-in-aid support visits to the Hagley Museum and Library for scholarly research in the imprint, manuscript, pictorial, and artifact collections. They are designed to assist researchers with travel and living expenses while using the research collections. Scholars receive a stipend, make use of the research holdings, and participate in the programs of the Center for the History of Business, Technology, and Society. These grants are to support serious scholarly work.

NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART: Center for Advanced Study in Visual Arts

DEADLINE: March 21, 2008 (Visiting Senior Fellowship)

The Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts announces its program for Paul Mellon and Ailsa Mellon Bruce Visiting Senior Fellowships. Fellowships are for full-time research, and scholars are expected to reside in Washington and to participate in the activities of the Center throughout the fellowship period. Lectures, colloquia, and informal discussions complement the fellowship program. Visiting senior fellows are provided with studies. They have access to the notable resources represented by the collections, the library, and the photographic archives of the National Gallery of Art, as well as to the Library of Congress and other specialized research libraries and collections in the Washington area.

EDWARD F. ALBEE FOUNDATION

DEADLINE: March 1, 2008

The Edward F. Albee Foundation maintains the William Flanagan Memorial Creative Persons Center (better known as "The Barn") in Montauk, on Long Island in New York. Month-long residencies for painters, sculptors, playwrights, poets, writers, and composers are offered from June 1st through September 30.

ANDY WARHOL FOUNDATION FOR THE VISUAL ARTS

DEADLINE: January 1, 2008 (for residencies beginning mid-May going through February of the following year)

Yaddo offers residencies to professional creative artists from all nations and backgrounds working in one or more of the following media: choreography, film, literature, musical composition, painting, performance art, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and video. Residencies last from two weeks to two months and include room, board, and studio.

DJERASSI RESIDENT ARTISTS PROGRAM

The Djerassi Residency Program is designed as a retreat experience to pursue personal creative work and share in collegial interaction within a small community of artists. In this spirit residents are expected to commit themselves for the entire residency session awarded to them.

VIRGINIA CENTER FOR THE CREATIVE ARTS

DEADLINE: January 15, 2008 (for Summer residence)

The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) is an international working retreat for writers, visual artists and composers located at Mount San Angelo, a 12-acre hilltop in Amherst County, Virginia., approximately 160 miles southwest of Washington, DC. In this bucolic rural setting, the VCCA provides residential fellowships of two weeks to two months where artists may work, free from the distractions and responsibilities of day-to-day life.

THE HUNTINGTON LIBRARY: Fellowships

The Huntington offers residential fellowships in San Marino, California to support studies in British and American history, liberature, art history, the history of science, and photography; areas of specialization include the Middle Ages, the photography; areas of specialization include the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, 19th and 20th century literature, British drama, colonial America, the American Civil Way, Western America, and California.
