Nuclear Energy

I have decided to narrow my thesis specifically to nuclear power.

Thesis: Because nuclear power is a sustainable energy source and its development increases national security, nuclear power will be the primary source of energy for the United States within ten years.

I think this will be interesting because I can also incorporate the argument that nuclear technology is a "balance of power" between countries.

I think nuclear energy is a relevant and controversial topic right now. I just have a problem with your thesis. I remember reading somewhere, and I googled it again to make sure, that it takes a long time to build and make nuclear power plants operational. Wiki said it takes at least ten years which makes the time frame in your thesis implausible. You may want to research this more on your own.

I read that article on Wiki, but there was also an article about the Chinese developing a nuclear plant in 4 years. Maybe 20 years would be more plausible? It really depends on the funding (especially if the government backs nuclear power as an energy source). Thanks.

no problem. im sure your more knowledgeable on the subject than i am, but i just wanted to raise the question just in case.

I think this is a good direction. Later when you start outlining, you should look back at Winners and Marx's articles and talk about the political issues that arise with nuclear power (who should have it, who shouldn't have it, etc.)
