Karajan Conducts Beethoven's 7th

Some swear by it; others swear von Karajan's work at the podium was bland and desensitizing trickery. (April 5th marks the 100th anniversary of the conductor's birth; the debate is heating up.) Here, Herbert von Karajan leads the Berlin Philharmonic in a performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7. What's your take?
