To Coach McKillop and the 2007-2008 team:

Following my graduation from Davidson in 2005, I moved down to Gainesville, Florida to begin law school at the University of Florida.

Since then, I have had the joy of experiencing three national championships (I am a long-time Gator fan), two of which I was fortunate enough to attend.

None of these games, however, affected me quite so deeply as did your impossible run in the tournament.

Maybe it’s because the University of Florida was already a house-hold name, particularly in football (and now in basketball). Maybe it’s because when I say I go to UF for law school, there is never a look of uncertainty in peoples’ eyes.

Thanks to you, Davidson is now a house-hold name. Thanks to you, people stop me in the store / parking lot / campus when they see me wearing a Davidson t-shirt. THIS at a school with three national championships in a calendar year.

In January of 2007, I journeyed to New Mexico to watch my Gators face the ‘giant’ Ohio State. NO ONE saw what was coming: a blow-out of one of what most considered to be the most talent team in the country. I was beaming with pride for weeks on end – we had proven EVERYONE wrong!

The pride I felt then, however, is nothing compared to the joy and connection I felt watching you face team after team in the tournament.

Thank you, Davidson Cats, for everything.

Meredith Harry (2005):

I've always been proud to be a Davidson Wildcat, and to hear every commentator talk about those things we call "That Davidson Feeling," only made me homesick. But in reality, as much as they want to talk about self scheduled exams and dropping off laundry, they will never really get what it means to be a Davidson Wildcat. They never got to self-select, write a laundry number in their clothes, or have breakfast from Bobby Vagt on Wednesday mornings. We are so lucky, so proud, and so honored to be Wildcats. It really is a great day to be a Davidson Wildcat!

Randy and Diane Hampton:

Thanks Coach and Wildcat Team! Old timers in Yadkin county are asking us to find a way to get your autographs. They know you all by name. Everyone here is so proud of you. Thanks to the cheerleaders, faculty, students and Mr. Cat too. Keep it up next year!

To Coach McKillop and the entire 2008 basketball team:
You have truly made Davidson proud! What a superb year for college basketball. Davidson College has played a major role in making people remember why college sports are so special. Davidson is no Cinderella....Davidson is the real thing. A great school program making its mark in 2008. I can hardly wait till next season!
