My wife and I had to find a sports bar to watch the Wisconsin game, since local Memphis area CBS was featuring the Texas game.
Starting in an empty side room with a 10 foot screen all to ourselves, by the time the DC game was over, we had a room full of U. Memphis fans who had converted temporarily to root the 'Cats on. The day after the Kansas game, I went for a run wearing my Davidson (in large red letters) t-shirt. People on their way to work were waving to me as they passed, a runner saw the shirt and shouted out a "Go Davidson" to me, and two school crossing guards were high-5ing and exclaiming how much fun DC had made the tournament. At the post office later, a gent saw my Davidson decal and stopped me to mention that he'd heard Davidson was a really tough school academically, ask about where it is, etc. I suspect the 'Cat fever was infectious across the country, and while Memphis is focusing its attention on their own team again, it was a breath of fresh air to have so many so cheerfully supporting the Wildcats in an area whose media doesn't even list the Davidson scores. Admissions office, watch out - this has got to be a harbinger of increased applications for the class of '12 and beyond! Thanks to the basketball program for such fun, and thanks to Davidson for showing so truly and well!

I am a Memphis Tiger fan and alumni.
Davidson was awesome in that game with Kansas.
This says what folks think of Davidson: "I rather
see the Tigers play Kansas."
Watch out next year, Davidson will be back.

Just before the Elite Eight game, my husband and I visited Charleston, SC. As we were walking down the street, my husband wearing a Davidson sweatshirt, we were overrun by a group of 15 high school students, all shouting "Davidson!" and giving us high-fives. The support and spirit of Davidson was everywhere: on the street, in the restaurants, in the hotel. Thanks for a job well done, and for playing a good, hard game. It was the best, and we look forward to next year.
