L. Armond Tew ’44

Armond Tew , 76, of Arcadia, Fla., died March 21, 1999.

He was born Dec. 22, 1922, and lived all his life in Arcadia. He was a rural U.S. mail carrier. Mr. Tew was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was a deacon and a very active member for many years at the Arcadia First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Tew of Arcadia; daughters, Mary Mae Brown of Arcadia, and Lillie Joyce Schwarz of Sharpsburg, Ga.; sons, Danny Tew of Winston-Salem, N.C., Sammy Tew of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Tommy Tew of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; sister, Joyce Dozier of Arcadia; brother, Tommy Tew of Ponca City, Okla.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 23 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, Arcadia. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. March 24 at Arcadia First Baptist Church, Arcadia. Burial will be Wednesday at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Arcadia.

The Rev. J. Stanton Blain ’45

The Rev. J. Stanton Blain ’45 of Virginia Beach, Va. died December 5, 1998. He earned a B.D. and Th.D. from Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, Va. He was a retired minister. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Alphin Blain, 4808 Mandan Road, Virginia Beach, Va.23462-5826; and four children.
